This is the first piece I ever made. Material exploration. Self Exploration. I think this was inspired by something I was seeing online at the time. You gotta start somewhere... JAN 2023, HERSTAR began to bloom. I was just stepping into a vision and trying to figure out what HERSTAR would be. How do I make this work? How do I even make clothes that don't fall apart? (The seams of these were tied together by tiny pieces of yarn because I only learned how to finger knit in panels from a YouTube video -- they are barely holding up today haha). I have been discovering that I love knitting so its very full circle to think back to the early days of HERSTAR. At the time, I didn't even know that what I was doing was called knitting! The top is made out of a blanket I found in a thrift store that was an insane color match to the pants I was making, so, naturally, I scrapped together a set.
Start to pursue your interests... even if you don't know why you are intrigued yet... even if your first google search is "How do I loop a string to make a fabric?"
